As everyone knows, the mining industry can pose risks to employees’ health and safety, and we are aware that we are working in dangerous conditions and our efforts are aimed at ensuring safe working conditions for each employee.
Our main goal is to reduce the number of accidents at all our facilities to zero that our people go home at the end of the day unharmed.
Our company is creating workplaces where a strong safety culture is valued. This is reinforced by a comprehensive suite of practical safety programs, such as training courses, workshops and program development, operations develop approaches that are consistent with the overall Tanganyika Gold S.A. vision, a culture and effective communication, enable us to provide a safe place to work, which deliver real results on the ground. We believe in the concept of «safe production».
For the coming mining operations company Tanagnuika gold provides insurance for its employees in accordance with article 82 of the Burundian Mining Code.

Health and safety spans all aspects of our business. Our safety culture goes beyond our employees to include our contractors and subcontractors, visitors, and the wider communities in which we operate. This work integrates with our environmental management practices to ensure that we achieve the best outcomes.
We recognize that individuals, through their own behaviors and actions, are ultimately responsible for safety, and our safety policy not only recommends but also obliges each of our employees to incorporate into their planning and work the actions necessary to ensure their safety and the safety of others in the workplace.
All of our operations have Safety and Health Officers who are responsible for supporting the implementation of our safety and health politic on a day-to-day basis.
Our employees and their safety and health are the highest priority for the Company.
Ours safety and Health Officers participate in external training, conferences and workshops to make sure employees are kept abreast of safety advancements inside and outside the industry.
The majority of technical safety training occurs at the operational level; mine rescue, equipment operation, first aid, specific technical procedure training are examples of technical safety training.
Each ours operation has levels of monitoring, inspection and analysis that vary by operation.
The company continuously applies the highest Environmental, Health and Safety standards throughout its design, construction, operations & maintenance and decommissioning stages.
Therefore, we shall:
- Establish the framework for setting and reviewing environmental, health and safety goals.
- Conduct regular risk assessment and audits in its facilities to identify and mitigate risks.
- Develop and implement effective management systems to identify,
- Communicate ours policy to contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Provide training and information to enable all our people to work safely and competently.
- Comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, internal standards, of safety set by the legislative acts, normative-technical documents, rules and instruction which performance-providing a safe working condition and regulate the behavior of employees and all other requirements which the company adopts.
- Promote safe and healthy behavior as a core value in the organization’s culture.
